Bei is a postdoctoral scholar in the Perceptual Science Group. She received her Ph.D.in neuroscience from University of Pennsylvania in 2009, where she studied human color perception of 3D objects. Prior to starting at MIT, she spent almost two years investigating early visual processing of color and form using source-imaged EEG methods at Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute. Her current research interests include both human and machine perception of material properties of natural objects. She uses techniques such as human psychophysics, computer vision and computer graphics.
