- Investigating high-level human cognition and computational modeling of visual cognition. Her current research program focuses on the representation of visual complexity and visual simplicity; the representation of scene spatial envelope and spatial layout; the relations between image statistic descriptors and the conceptual representation of scenes and objects; the mechanisms of scene recognition in brief glances as well as mechanisms of attentional and eye movements deployment in complex scenes.

- Currently focuses on high-level vision and the question of how perceptual knowledge is represented and structured. A consequence of this work was the invention of a new scaling technique, ``Trajectory mapping'', which overcomes some of the limitations of multi-dimensional scaling and allows one to explore the "paths" that link elements in conceptual spaces.
